Turning Kindergarteners into Paragraph Writers

Teaching Kinders to write is hard. Teaching them write three sentences on one topics can be even harder. Especially if you want the sentences to say more than "I like my mom. I like my dad."

I started teaching my kiddos to write paragraphs using this idea of mine called "Write Me Three."
Here is a picture to show you what I mean...
We will out our Write Me Three sheets, in this case, they are about penguins are.
Then, I teach my students to turn that sheet into three sentences. (Yes, they are repeating because this is the first time we worked on turning the sheet into paragraphs.)
Then, we work on checking for capital letters in the beginning, ending with punctuation, and not having random capital letters in the middle.
We will later work on adding pronouns and more describing words to these writings prompts.

Then, we did a class "listen and follow directions" to teach the students to draw their own penguins.
After they made one penguin, they were able to make more penguins.

I made a Christmas Freebie with these writing starters here, but so many teachers asked me for more, I created two packs of them for you guys. This one is just for Winter! Grab it {here.}
